Nu Sound, Nu Soul

This year, I’ve been blessed with a job as a music stylist. Basically, I listen to and place music all over the country and the world for clients that range from boutique hotels to restaurant chains. The fact is, music is getting back to its soulful roots and I couldn’t be happier. Artists such as Mayer Hawthorne, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Lucinda Slim & the Lone Stars are re-creating vintage Motown sounds and re-injecting musicality into an otherwise vapid music scene. Below is a Mayer Hawthorne track that I’ve been repeat offending for two weeks. Listen and enjoy. Is this the end of the auto-tuned pop star? We can only hope.
